My Sister's Silly Picture

On November 15, 2009, my mom, my sister Swathi, and I were looking through a picture album from when I was in pre-school. We found a really funny picture of my sister from when she was 1 year and 2 months old.

Here’s a poem describing the picture.

Less than 2 feet tall
She’s so short, you’d think someone couldn’t be so small
With a big pack
That covers her entire back
A water bottle in her hand
Which looked like a fat white band
As if she was in a cartoon
About the good ol’ Looney Tunes
Really chubby, really cute
With a huge suit
That.......
Makes her look fat!

I thought it was hilarious. I made up a tune for the poem, and sang it. Click the play button to listen.

Sick Day

Today, November 13, 2009, I skipped school because of sickness for the first time in 2 years. Last year, I didn’t have a single sick day. Two days back, I got a cough. I had eaten some popcorn. By 3:30 P.M. after school yesterday, it had developed into a fever. I had a headache, my sinuses were clogged, and I had a horrible cough. I had to skip school because I felt even worse this morning. I had wanted to go because we were starting a report, but I couldn’t. By noon I felt better. But halfway through the afternoon, I got a fever again and I had to skip my laya class. However, right now, at 7:46 P.M. on November 13, 2009, I think I’ve made an improvement. I think it was good to skip school today because I could have made others sick and I might not have improved so much, but I still wish I hadn’t been sick at all. I really hated getting sick, but I got a lot of reading done and I finished the book The House of the Scorpion, which I had for less than 2 days. I really, really, really hate the feeling that I’m missing things because of some coughs. But I’m happy I’ve recovered.
