Mysore visit

On July 14, 2009, we left my grandparents house in Benglur and went to my dad's older brother's house in Mysore to visit our cousins. We took about 4 – 5 hours to get to Mysore.

At around lunchtime, we stopped at a really cool restaurant next to a swamp to eat our brunch. We ate idlis wrapped in leaves. We got back in our taxi after about 10 – 15 min.

About 1 – 2 hours later, we stopped near the Kauveri river to see the Nimishamba temple. I did my Madyanka next to the Kauveri river. (My sister accidentally stepped in some dirt and had to leave her shoes behind.) Me and my sister both ate chocolate bars.

When we got to Mysore, we stopped at the famous Mysore Palace. Mysore used to be the capital of Karnataka (now Banglore is), which is why the palace is situated there. It has five gigantic temples next to it that are all the size of a mansion! The palace itself is at least two acres large! Inside the palace, we saw statues made of pure gold, silver and bronze. The doors had ivory carvings on them, and they were worth millions of U.S. dollars. One door was made of pure silver and worth more than $10,000,000. We also saw million dollar paintings and two thrones for dignitaries made of pure silver. We only saw the two thrones (one for elephant back and one normal one) in pictures. They were huge and made of solid gold! My parents also said that the government hid thousands of diamonds, emeralds, and rubies to keep them from being stolen. We bought silk clothes as well. We also saw the residential quarters of the royalty. There were antique phonographs, teakwood beds and roofs, and pure gold scepters and swords, and high class rifles. My parents also bought me an ice cream choco – bar. Sadly, it melted within a minute.

At about 6:00 P.M., we got to my dad's brother's house. We played with our cousins, Hamsini and Shreyas, until midnight. Me and Hamsini had a very uncivilized quiz for an hour.

On July 15, 2009, we went to Sri Chamundeshwari temple high up in a mountain. Sadly, it was too crowded there due to a special event and we couldn't go inside it. We went to the less crowded Nandi temple in the mountains. Shreyas had gotten an appendicitis surgery only a month ago, so he got really tired. We went to a bakery when we got home and bought cake. When we got home, Shreyas had to sleep for some time. We had quizzes and played a little more. At 3:00 P.M., we tried to make a video, but me and my family had to go to my other grandparents' in Hassna. At about 6:00, we got there. Today is July 16, 2009. Tomorrow, we are going to visit the village Kowshika and Hamsini and Shreyas are going to visit us and their grandparents.
